The Pacific Crest Writers Workshop

What it’s like We sit in a circle and the moderator asks who has brought a piece to workshop. The moderator then asks people to read their work. The writer passes out copies, if they have any, and then reads their work. When finished, the moderator asks for comments. Other writers comment on the work while the writer sits quietly. When the critiques are complete, the moderator asks another writer to read, and so on. Notice that writers do not question critiques during the workshop. •	As a supportive community, we expect critiques to be immediately helpful and supportive. Leftovers: People who don’t get a chance to read are prioritized for the next time they attend the workshop. After the workshop we adjourn to a nearby tavern for a drink and to give writers the opportunity to discuss their critiques. This is also the time for us to share news, opportunities, and to build our literary community. The Pacific Crest Writers Workshop provides a forum for writers in any genre to share their work-in-progress and receive constructive critiques from other writers. The workshop was founded in 2024 and follows the format of the San Francisco Writers Workshop (sfww.org). The Workshop . . . •	Is free and open to all interested writers o	We welcome every age, gender, race, creed, and most dispositions •	Meets every Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 pm -- the 1st meeting is (was?) 8-Oct-2024 o	Please arrive a little before 7 •	At the Ashland Public Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd, Ashland Oregon, in one of the downstairs conference rooms o	These meetings are neither sponsored nor endorsed by the library •	Currently moderated by Ransom Stephens THE RULES – Bring no more than 6 double-spaced pages ( < 1500 words) – don’t bring the same work twice, even after editing – bringing copies to share helps participants to follow along and provide insightful critique – you can’t talk back when you’re being critiqued History The PCWW was created by the Pacific Crest Writers at their first meeting on 20-Aug-2024 in Ashland Oregon as a service to all writers in or passing through Southern Oregon.
